Kelly's French Silk Chocolate Pie

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 Cup Chocolate Wafer Crumbs (Crushed Oreos)
  • 1/4 Cup Unsalted Butter, Melted
  • 1 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 4 Oz Unsweetened Chocolate Squares
  • 1 Oreo Pie Crust (See Instructions To Make)
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 Plain Hershey Bar, Room Temp
  • 2 Tsp Good Vanilla
  • 1 Cup Unsalted Butter, Softened
Instructions
  1. Make the pie crust by combining the oreo crumbs and melted butter; press evenly in a 9-inch pie dish.
  2. Bake pie crust at 325 degrees for about 6 minutes. Cool completely before using.
  3. In microwave, melt chocolate. Set aside to cool.
  4. In a medium bowl, cream butter, gradually add sugar, cream well.
  5. Mix in melted, cooled chocolate and vanilla.
  6. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating 5 minutes each, and scraping sides of bowl often to incorporate all sugar.
  7. (Beat until no longer any grains of sugar.)
  8. Spoon and smooth into pie crust.
  9. Chill and set, about 1 hour.
  10. Serve topped with Cool Whip, chocolate shavings, and a maraschino cherry.
  11. Variations: Add, in addition to vanilla, 1 tsp peppermint extract, tint Cool Whip pink for Valentine's Day or green for St. Patrick's Day.
  12. Top with crushed peppermint sticks/candy canes just before serving for Christmas.
